About Me.

Hello! I’m Erick Moya, and I am an artist living in Brooklyn, New York. I started working on digital comics in 2020 during the covid lockdown, but I have been creating art for many years. I started off with traditional art using pencil, ink, and Prisma Colors on large canvases, and thenI moved over to the digital drawing realm studying concept art, character design, storyboarding, world building, and mech design at Brainstorm School Burbank.

I have been continuing my studies at the Art Students League in Manhattan, New York where I am focusing on comics and traditional inking.

The Leftwind
I came up with the concept of The Leftwind back in 2011. I had drawn this art piece that depicted a young boy and his mechanical frog sibling for a benefit to help the victims of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The good news is that the art piece actually sold, however I did not get to expand on the concept of these characters until several years later. I have always wanted to world build and create colorful characters based on the influences of my childhood. I remember how exciting it was to fill up a bowl with some kind of sugary cereal and catch the Saturday morning cartoons. That is the intention of The Leftwind series. I am hoping each episode will capture that feeling I had as a kid and allow the reader to join in on the adventures with these characters. I think it will be interesting to see my art evolve during this journey.
Some Creative Tools

I have a mixed process, but I try and stick to drawing digitally for The Leftwind using a Wacom Cintiq 32 Pro. When I am on the go, I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra or an iPad Pro. My go to software has been Clip Studio Paint EX and Photoshop and sometimes I sketch in Procreate.

My go to brushes are the standard G Pen in CSP EX and the Rusty Nibs brushes from True Grit Textures.

Traditionally I use Kuratake Brush Pen, a Pentel pen, Dip Pen with Super Black Speedball Ink, Winsor and Newton Series 7 brush, and Blue Pencil.
